Version history records each saved change to your study guide. Use it to look at an earlier version or to restore one.

What creates a version

  • Each change you make in the study editor saves a version.
  • Each change the AI makes in the chat saves a version.
  • Each restore saves a version.
  • Publishing does not save a version.
  • Consecutive versions by the same person within 5 minutes form one entry.

Open the history

  1. Click the clock icon in the study guide header. Its tooltip reads Version history.
  2. Find the entry you want. Each entry shows the time and, when known, the author’s name.
  3. Look for the Current badge. It marks the latest version.
  4. Click Load more to load older versions.

View an earlier version

  1. Click an entry. A banner shows You are viewing a previous version.
  2. Read the earlier version. You cannot edit it while you view it.
  3. Click Go back to latest version to return to the latest version.

Restore a version

Restoring makes an earlier version the current one.
  1. Open the earlier version.
  2. Click Restore this version in the banner.
  3. Read the dialog. Click Restore this version again to confirm, or click Cancel.
  • Restore saves a new version. Earlier versions stay in the history.
  • Restore works on a study that is launched. Live interviews keep the published version until you publish again.
  • You need edit access to restore. The Full access and Collaborator roles have it. The Viewer role does not.
  • Restore this version is off while you have unsaved changes, or while the chat is waiting for or writing a reply.
  • A version that uses an audience deleted later cannot be restored. The banner shows this message: “This version includes a deleted audience or its display conditions and cannot be restored. Return to the latest version and make the changes there.”
Restoring deletes the chat messages that came after the restored version. Comments and earlier versions are kept.
