# Reels

> Create, edit, share, and download highlight reels of the most impactful moments from your research

A reel is a short highlight video built from clips of your participants' answers. Reels let you show stakeholders what people said, in their own words, instead of quoting them.

You find reels in the **Reels** tab of your study. The page has two views: **Reels** lists every reel in the study, and **Quotes** lists the quotes you can add to a reel.

### Quick Reference

## Create a Reel with AI

Reels are created in Chat.

1. Open your study and click **Chat** in the study sidebar. You can also click **Create New Reel** on the Reels page, then **Go to Chat**.
2. Describe the reel you want. Research Agent finds matching quotes and builds the reel.

**Example prompts:**

* "Create a highlight reel about pricing concerns."
* "Make a 30 second reel of people who chose Concept B explaining why."
* "Create a reel with five different participants describing their onboarding experience."

If you do not give a length or a number of participants, the reel uses 4 to 8 participants and runs 45 to 120 seconds. Ask for a length, such as "max 30 seconds", or a number of participants, and Research Agent follows it.

> [!TIP]
>
> Be specific about the topic, the audience, and the questions to draw from. "Reel of first-time users explaining why setup felt slow" works better than "make a reel."

## Build a Reel from Quotes

1. Find a quote on the **Quotes** view of the Reels page, or in a participant's response.
2. Click **Add to Reel**.
3. Pick an existing reel, or click **Create new reel** and enter a name.

Inside the reel editor, you can also click **Add quotes** to search all quotes in the study and add them without leaving the reel.

## Edit a Reel

Open any reel to edit it.

* **Trim a clip:** Select a clip and drag the handles to adjust where it starts and ends. Click **Save** to keep the change.
* **Reorder clips:** Drag clips into the order you want in the clip list.
* **Remove a clip:** Click the trash icon next to the clip.
* **Rename the reel:** Click the title and type a new name.
* **Choose the thumbnail:** Click **Choose thumbnail** and step through the frames to pick the image people see before they press play.
* **Respondent info:** Click **Respondent info** to choose which details about each participant appear in the reel. This setting applies to every reel in the study.

While you watch, use **Back 10 seconds** and **Forward 10 seconds** to skip, and **Playback speed** to play at 0.5x, 1x, 1.25x, 1.5x, or 2x.

## Share a Reel

1. Open the reel and click **Share**.
2. Turn on link sharing if it is off.
3. Copy the link and send it by email, Slack, or any other channel.

Anyone with the link can view the reel. They do not need a Listen Labs account.

## Download a Reel

Open the reel and click **Download**.

* If the reel is already rendered, the video file downloads right away.
* If it is not, click **Request reel download**. Listen renders the reel and emails you a download link when it is ready. This can take a few minutes.

## Reels Across Studies

To combine clips from several studies in one reel, ask the chat in the [Research Library](https://docs.listenlabs.com/insights-and-reports/research-library.md). For example: "Create a reel of customers describing switching costs across our Q3 studies."

> [!NOTE]
>
> For studies where participants answer by voice only, reels show a waveform with captions instead of video. Some workspaces can also download a version with anonymized faces and voices. Contact [support@listenlabs.ai](mailto:support@listenlabs.ai) to ask about it.
